El Secretario de Estado de los Estados Unidos, Mike Pompeo señaló que el dictador Daniel Ortega representa una amenaza mayor para Estados Unidos y su política exterior, que el partido comunista de China.
Mike Pompeo mencionó que mantuvo conversaciones con líderes de la oposición nicaragüense y les prometió todo el apoyo de los Estados Unidos, para que en el país existan unas elecciones libres y transparentes, que permitan la llegada de la democracia.
El Secretario de Estado mencionó que trabaja con la Iglesia Católica, organizaciones no gubernamentales, y otras naciones de la región, para presionar por unas elecciones justas en Nicaragua, para tratar la amenaza que representa Daniel Ortega para Estados Unidos.
«Eso es lo que hacemos, y estoy seguro de que hoy en día estamos más cerca de lo que estábamos hace unos meses», señaló el alto representante de Trump.
Desde finales de 2018, el gobierno de Estados Unidos declaro a Daniel Ortega una amenaza para su seguridad, y desde entonces se ha renovado una vez, esta orden ejecutiva del presidente norteamericano.
