El dictador Daniel Ortega exigió al acróbata norteamericano Nik Wallenda y a su equipo de producción, el uso de los colores de la bandera del partido sandinista durante la realización del evento en el volcán Masaya.
El Acróbata Nik Wallenda y su esposa Eréndira Wallenda, realizaron acrobacia sobre el volcán Masaya, en un evento transmitido en vivo a más de 19 países, pero lo que destacó y reportaron varios televidentes, es que ambos lucieron trajes con los colores del fsln, algo que sin duda pudo haber sido exigido por el gobierno para permitirles la realización de la hazaña.
Anteriormente Wallenda había logrado hazañas en las cataratas del Niagara en sudamerica, en el Gran Cañón en Estados Unidos, pero ahora se enfrentaba a su mayor reto, según sus propias palabras, y era pasar sobre la cuerda floja del activo Volcán Masaya.
De esta forma, los dos acróbatas establecieron un nuevo récord mundial, al sortear las extremas condiciones volcánicas del cráter Santiago, al momento de realizar acrobacias.
