En esta nueva administración de Donald J. Trump como presidente número 47 de los Estados Unidos, una de las medidas principales impulsadas es la de la deportación masiva de migrantes que se encuentran actualmente en el territorio norteamericano.
El gobierno de Trump planea ofrecer una jugoza recompensa para aquellos que denuncien a migrantes indocumentados, según lo ha resaltado el medio digital Badabun en las últimas horas.
En un contexto marcado por una creciente hostilidad hacia los inmigrantes en Estados Unidos, un proyecto de ley propuesto por un senador republicano de Misuri ha generado controversia al plantear la idea de ofrecer 1,000 dólares a quienes denuncien a inmigrantes en situación irregular.
La iniciativa, presentada por David Gregory, senador conservador de San Luis, establece que si «un extranjero ilegal» ingresa «de manera consciente» a Misuri y es arrestado por un «cazarrecompensas con licencia» o un agente dentro del estado, podría ser acusado de allanamiento de propiedad.
De ser detenido, el inmigrante enfrentaría una posible pena de cárcel. Además, la propuesta contempla que el Departamento de Seguridad Pública implemente un sistema para facilitar que los ciudadanos reporten violaciones a la ley de allanamiento de morada.
El texto denominado SB72 establece: «Esto incluiría una línea telefónica gratuita, un correo electrónico y un portal en línea para realizar denuncias».
Según detalla el proyecto, «cualquier persona que realice una denuncia que resulte en la detención de un extranjero en situación irregular recibirá una recompensa de 1.000 dólares».
La propuesta será debatida durante el nuevo ciclo de sesiones que inicia en enero. De ser aprobada, autorizaría al Departamento de Seguridad Pública a implementar un programa para certificar cazadores de recompensas especializados en la detención de extranjeros ilegales en Misuri.
